Update on 9th September 2025
Imagine clinging to the hope of safety in a place you begin to call 'home', only to be uprooted once more, driven out by relentless airstrikes that shatter any sense of refuge. Maryam and her family have now been displaced more than twelve times since the war began. After a long and exhausting journey of walking, paddling, and constant movement in extreme heat, around complete rubble, they have finally found a spot to settle for now. But it is not a proper home, only a tent. There is no real room, no safety, only the bare minimum to survive.
Maryam suffers from a serious immune disorder that attacks her body every single day. In Gaza, where nowhere is truly safe, this makes her situation especially dangerous.
It is important to note that there are very limited fresh foods, including fruits and vegetables, available in Gaza. Much of the food that is released is already expired, yet families are forced to eat it simply to stay alive. For someone like Maryam, whose immune system is already compromised, this creates even higher risks. During times of famine, it is those with chronic health conditions, vulnerabilities, and disabilities who die first.
Maryam tries her best to eat, but her diet is extremely restricted. At present, she can only tolerate certain foods such as canned fruits, which are both scarce and very expensive.
What Maryam urgently needs is medical evacuation. The specialist care she requires simply does not exist in Gaza, and every day without it puts her life further at risk.
Your support is keeping her and her family alive, helping them to access food, medicine, and the ability to move to slightly safer places. But her journey is far from over. Please continue to support, sign her petition, and share Maryam’s story. Together, we can help her reach the evacuation with medical care abroad and safety she so desperately needs.
