The Issue

My home, like many others in New Jersey, has been a haven for birds for many years. The joy that bird feeding brings to our households cannot be underestimated and now, this simple pleasure is under threat. There are estimated to be 2.3 million residents in New Jersey who are avid bird lovers and whose lives would be adversely impacted if the bird feeding ban reflected in Bill A360 and S765 is passed (Statista, 2021). We call upon our state senators to consider the significant societal impact of these potential new laws. If made law, our ability to observe, enjoy and our efforts to save some of these beautiful creatures would be significantly restricted (or eliminated entirely) for the majority of the year, including the critical periods of nesting and migration.

It is critical that our voice be heard in this matter, and urge our representatives to either dismiss or delay the voting of Bill A360 and S765.

At worst, if implemented, these changes will:

- Prevent us and our neighbors from experiencing the joy of bird watching
- Negatively impact dozens of businesses – small and large, and the families they support
- Discourage the study of nature and wildlife by our children
- Reduce resources that currently provide support to our endangered song birds

PLEASE do not legislate away our rights and enjoyment of birds and other wildlife.

Kindly add your support to our plea by signing this petition. Let's save the joy of bird feeding for New Jersey residents today and for future generations.
