Urgent Action Required To Save Our Park

Urgent Action Required To Save Our Park
Why this petition matters

A little more than five years ago, Scottsdale residents alerted the City about a neglected area that had long been earmarked for development as a park. Since then, the City has held a bond election and carefully collaborated with area residents to plan an outstanding park. Contracts for the design and construction have been agreed and development commenced. Funding of more than $6 million has been identified and earmarked.
Progress has now suddenly and abruptly been stopped at the 11th hour as a consequence of several individuals raising issues long since addressed and resolved by the Parks and Recreation Department. The dissidents precipitated a 4 to 3 vote of the Scottsdale Planning Commission to postpone their taking a further vote on supporting the Park.
Regrettably Parks and Rec were unaware of this matter being raised at the Planning Commission meeting in question. They subsequently advised that all matters raised by the dissidents had long since been discussed and resolved. For sake of clarity, they intend to respond at a forthcoming Planning Commission meeting.
Few of the great many supporters of the Park attended the noted Planning Commission meeting as they were unaware the Commissioners might be debating aspects of the Park. The purpose of this communication is to let the Commissioners (and City Council) be aware of the broad support for the Park, and that the matters the dissidents have chosen to raise at his point have been addressed and resolved.
