Hi everyone,
I’m writing with heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support of our petition - your signatures and shares have truly made a difference.
Thanks to you, we've now reached over 6400 signatures and we know our petition has been seen by Broadstairs Town Council, Kent Police, local MPs and the media. That’s a powerful demonstration of our community’s unity and determination to make Broadstairs safer and more welcoming.
We’re preparing to deliver the petition to the relevant authorities, alongside a summary of your messages and concerns. We will also be requesting a public meeting, with the council and police representatives, to discuss practical steps, including but not limited to:
- Proactive, not reactive policing - we need officers on the ground before problems start, not just after incidents have escalated.
- Support from British Transport Police and Rail Enforcement Officers at key stations across the network, to deter groups travelling in with the intent to cause disruption.
- Increased local police presence - more officers available to patrol Broadstairs regularly, particularly in key hotspots and during evenings and weekends.
- Clear communication from authorities - regular updates and visible accountability from both Kent Police and local councils.
In the meantime, please do continue to help by sharing the petition with friends, neighbours, and local groups. You can also reply to this message if you have ideas, experiences, or updates to report and we will pass them on. Can we also urge you to reach out to local councillors and MPs to amplify your voice and our shared concerns.
Your passion and voices are already shaping change and together, we’ll make Broadstairs a better, safer place for everyone. Thank you for standing up and taking action.
With deep gratitude,
Sophie Jones
