Urgent Action Needed to Address the Rattlesnake Problem in Tracy Hills

Urgent Action Needed to Address the Rattlesnake Problem in Tracy Hills
The Issue
Protect Tracy Hills Families from Increasing Rattlesnake Encounters.
We, the residents of Tracy Hills, are deeply concerned about the increasing number of rattlesnake sightings throughout our community, particularly in areas where children and families gather daily.
Over the past two months, residents have documented numerous rattlesnake encounters near:
- Gene Birk Soccer Park
- Fairgrove Community
- Greenwood Community
- Sunhaven Community
- Parklin Community
- Walking trails, sidewalks, parks, and residential landscaping areas.
Many of these sightings have occurred in locations frequented by children, families, pet owners, and community members. Residents have captured multiple photographs and videos of rattlesnakes found near homes, parks, pathways, and recreational areas.
Why We Believe This Is Happening
One significant concern raised by residents is that much of the backside of the Tracy Hills Phase 1 community remains open to surrounding wildlife habitat, without a continuous protective barrier or perimeter fence
While several other sections of Tracy Hills are enclosed by brick perimeter walls, large portions along the backside of the Phase 1 community remain open, creating direct access between natural wildlife areas and residential neighborhoods.
As development continues, wildlife—including rattlesnakes—is increasingly being displaced and moving into community spaces where families live, walk, and play.
What We Are Requesting
We respectfully request that Lennar and Tracy Hills community management take immediate action to protect residents by:
- Evaluating and extending perimeter fencing or wildlife barriers in vulnerable open areas.
- Conducting a professional wildlife and rattlesnake risk assessment for Tracy Hills.
- Implementing additional vegetation and habitat management near parks, trails, and residential areas.
- Increasing monitoring and removal efforts for venomous snakes in high-traffic community locations.
Our Goal
This petition is not intended to harm wildlife. We support responsible wildlife management that protects both animals and residents.
However, the safety of our families, children, pets, and community members must be a top priority.
We believe proactive action today can help prevent serious injuries tomorrow and ensure that Tracy Hills remains a safe place for families to live, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
The attached photographs and videos represent only a portion of the rattlesnake sightings reported by residents over the past two months.
We urge Lennar and community leadership to take this issue seriously and work with residents to implement effective solutions before the problem becomes a long-term public safety concern.
Please sign this petition to support immediate action and improved safety measures for the Tracy Hills community.
Sincerely,
Concerned Residents of Tracy Hills
Tracy, California
