Dear Brent MPs,

We, the undersigned residents of buildings in the First Central Development, are writing to raise our grave concerns about the lack of progress in addressing the dangerous cladding on our building.

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, many residential buildings were identified as having unsafe cladding. Our buildings, Azure House, Aqua House and Coral House, received a B2 rating on the EWS1 form, confirming that they are exposed to extremely high fire safety risks.

Even though our developer, Bellway Homes, have signed up to the Government's initial ‘Developer Pledge’ meaning they have committed to remediating the external wall and fire safety defects to the blocks, no meaningful action has taken place since 2022. This prolonged inaction leaves us exposed to unacceptable risks:

  • Health and Safety: Residents live with the daily fear of a potential fire. This concern is not hypothetical—there was recently a significant fire in our neighbourhood (Sep 21), underlining how urgent this matter is.
  • Financial Impact: The unresolved cladding issue makes it almost impossible for many residents to remortgage or sell their homes, trapping us in unsafe and financially precarious circumstances.

This situation is both unsafe and unjust. Despite the developer’s public commitment, the reality is that residents are bearing the cost—emotionally, financially, and in terms of personal safety—for delays that are entirely outside our control.

We respectfully urge you, as our elected representative, to:

  1. Hold the developer accountable to their pledge and obligations under the government’s building safety framework, and
  2. Press Bellway Homes to immediately begin and complete the necessary remedial works.

We ask for your support in ensuring that the promises made translate into swift and tangible action.

Yours sincerely,

Residents/Leaseholders of First Central Development
[Azure House, Aqua House, Coral House]
