Having moved to Goonawarra a few months ago, I have become increasingly concerned about the ongoing hooning and excessive speeding occurring on Francis Boulevard, particularly on the section between Carnoustie Drive and Sunningdale Avenue. Almost every night, residents are subjected to vehicles performing burnouts, revving engines excessively, and travelling at dangerous speeds, often estimated to be between 80–100 km/h. This behaviour not only creates significant noise pollution and sleep disturbances for surrounding residents, but also poses a serious risk to public safety.

This section of road is used by families, school children attending Goonawarra Primary School, pedestrians, and visitors to the nearby golf course. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed if action is not taken. The current situation has become intolerable for local residents, who deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhood.

We call on the relevant authorities to urgently investigate and implement traffic-calming measures on Francis Boulevard between Carnoustie Drive and Sunningdale Avenue. Measures such as speed humps, raised intersections, speed barriers, or other appropriate road safety infrastructure would help deter dangerous driving behaviour, prevent burnouts and hooning, and improve the safety and amenity of our community.
