Urgency for Stricter Laws and Faster Justice for Rape & Sexual Harassment Cases in India

The Issue

Despite increasing awareness, sexual offenses continue due to slow legal processes, societal stigma, and lack of strict enforcement.
Many survivors face delayed justice, victim-blaming, and threats, making it difficult for them to seek legal action. Even after nationwide protests and stricter laws like the Nirbhaya Act, the slow judicial process and loopholes allow criminals to escape severe punishment.
It is time for urgent and extreme action to ensure swift and fair justice for victims. We, the undersigned citizens, demand the following measures be taken immediately:

1. Stricter and Faster Legal System
- Fast-track courts for rape and harassment cases to ensure verdicts within 3-6 months.
- Death penalty or life imprisonment for brutal rape cases.
- No bail for rapists in severe cases.
- One-time review of pending cases with quick decisions.

2. Harsher Punishments
- Capital punishment or life imprisonment for brutal rape cases.
- Chemical castration for repeat offenders to ensure public safety.
- Strict action against police negligence in filing FIRs.

3. Police and Law Enforcement Reforms
- Strict action against police negligence in registering FIRs.
- Special police squads to handle sexual violence cases.
- Surveillance in public places (CCTV cameras in high-risk areas).

4. Education and Social Reforms
- Mandatory sex education in schools focusing on consent and gender respect.
- Strict workplace policies against harassment with anonymous reporting.
- Community awareness programs to eliminate victim-blaming.
- Strict monitoring of public spaces with CCTV and police patrols in high-risk areas.

5. Victim Protection and Rehabilitation
- Confidentiality and protection programs for survivors facing threats.
- Immediate psychological and medical aid for survivors.
- Financial and employment support to help victims restart life.
- Safe homes and relocation options for victims in danger.

India cannot progress if its women and children live in fear. We demand immediate action from the government to create a nation where justice is swift, and criminals fear the law.
There is a long list of harassment cases which are neglected and strict actions shall be taken upon them too.
