Urge Your Senators to Ban Cluster Bombs

The Issue

Before taking office, President Barack Obama promised he would review the U.S. decision not to ban cluster bombs. Now President Obama needs our help.

The Pentagon and many people in other parts of the government don’t want to give up these weapons. President Obama will be much more likely to act if he has political support in the Senate, which will have to ratify the global cluster bomb treaty.

The Senate is considering legislation that would effectively stop the United States from using these weapons, which kill many more civilians than soldiers. Already one-quarter of the Senate has cosponsored the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act (S. 416), which has bipartisan support.

Take Action

Help move U.S. policy in the right direction by urging your senators to cosponsor S. 416, the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act.  This bill states that, "Cluster munitions will not be used where civilians are known to be present or in areas normally inhabited by civilians."

Mary AcostaPetition StarterI voted as a Democrate but I would love to see a third party come to fruition. After 5 years of working for the schools, lay offs have left me unemployed. Who got the bail out? Not the working families of America. So, now maybe people will get out and take a look at the status quo and what it has done to the poor.
