The Issue

I, alongside many others, rely on Route 400 from Cumming to Downtown, operated by Xpress GA, to commute to work daily. Our careers and lives in the neighborhood are stitched around this indispensable service, and it has proven beneficial in saving commuting time for all riders heading straight downtown.

However, recently there has been an alarming concern of potential changes to this service that may disrupt our access to work. As downtown corporate office workers relying on this route, changes to either the service provision or the timings would significantly impact our lives.

It is essential to note that a review on the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) highlighted that there are nearly 200,000 cars using GA-400 daily, which already worsens the traffic situation (GDOT Annual Report 2019). Therefore, without the Xpress GA service, the congestion can potentially grow worse, since alternative commute options are limited. We believe the environmental impact of more private vehicles on the road stands against the city's sustainability efforts.

We must stress that it is not just a matter of retention but also adjusting the timings. A careful review should be conducted regarding the peak hours for downtown corporate office timings. An appropriate adaptation will ensure that the route continues its mission and purpose, serving those in need efficiently.

We, therefore, respectfully urge Xpress GA to retain Route 400 from Cumming to Downtown and consider adjusting the timings to align with downtown corporate office timings better. This petition may seem like a simple plea, but for us, it's a rallying call to ensure we maintain our lifeline to work.

So, stand with us. Sign this petition. Let's make our voices heard and protect Route 400.
