Urge X to Review Recent “Inauthentic Behavior” Suspensions
La causa
Over the past several months, many X users have publicly reported being suddenly suspended or restricted for alleged “inauthentic behavior,” often without a clear explanation of what they actually did wrong.
I am one of those users, but this petition is not just about my account.
The same pattern is being reported by people with long-standing personal accounts, Premium subscribers, non-Premium users, casual users, creators, developers, and people who say they have never used bots or automated engagement tools.
Many affected users say their activity was completely normal and performed manually: posting, replying, liking, sharing links, talking with friends, or participating in communities.
Yet they were still flagged for behavior normally associated with spam, automation, or platform manipulation.
The problem becomes even worse once an account is suspended.
Users report receiving vague automated notices, appeals with no meaningful explanation, cases sitting indefinitely “in the queue,” repeated automated denials, and little or no indication that a human ever reviewed what actually happened.
Some people have used their accounts for many years. Others were paying X Premium subscribers when they were suspended. Some have reported having their accounts restored only to be suspended again shortly afterward.
This petition is not asking X to stop fighting bots, spam, coordinated manipulation, fake engagement, or genuinely inauthentic activity.
Those systems are necessary.
We are asking X to make sure those systems do not remove legitimate human users by mistake, and to provide a real path to recovery when false positives happen.
We ask X to:
- Investigate the recent wave of user reports involving “inauthentic behavior” suspensions and restrictions.
- Provide meaningful human review when affected users appeal these decisions.
- Restore accounts when review determines that no platform manipulation or inauthentic activity occurred.
- Clearly identify what behavior or activity triggered an enforcement decision instead of providing only a generic policy label.
- Improve the appeal process by providing confirmation, case status, clearer communication, and a way for users to know whether their case has actually been reviewed.
- Review whether automated enforcement systems are incorrectly flagging legitimate human behavior such as frequent manual posting, short replies, sharing links, bursts of normal activity, or interaction from long-standing accounts.
- Address cases where users are restored and then automatically suspended again without any new violation.
People should not have to search Reddit, petitions, and unrelated support threads just to discover that hundreds of others are experiencing the same problem.
X should continue removing bots and manipulation.
But real users should not become collateral damage in that process.
If you have been suspended, restricted, reach-limited, demonetized, or otherwise incorrectly flagged for “inauthentic behavior” or related platform-manipulation enforcement, please sign this petition and share what happened.
The goal is to create one public record of affected users that can eventually be presented to X, its staff, journalists, and others who can help bring attention to the issue.
