Urge WWF to Reclassify Polar Bears as Endangered and End its Support for Trophy Hunting
Urge WWF to Reclassify Polar Bears as Endangered and End its Support for Trophy Hunting
The Issue
As an individual deeply concerned for the welfare of polar bears, I am witnessing the detrimental effects of climate change and trophy hunting on this majestic species. Polar bears are already struggling due to the severe loss of their natural habitat - the sheet ice, declining at an alarming rate, and the continued support for trophy hunting puts an additional damper on their numbers.
According to the World Wildlife Fund's own research, there are now only between 22,000 and 31,000 polar bears remaining. Their numbers have dropped by around 40% in the past decade (source: WWF). There is an urgent need to reclassify polar bears from "vulnerable" to "endangered". This change goes beyond semantics; it involves stronger protections and greater global commitment to ensuring their survival.
Furthermore, it is acknowledged that trophy hunting can contribute to the decline of species. WWF, as a respected and influential organization in wildlife conservation, should stop endorsing such practices which pose a significant threat to the already critically affected polar bear population.

Please join me in urging the World Wildlife Fund to reclassify polar bears as an endangered species and to cease support of trophy hunting. Your signature can help ensure a safer future for polar bears. Let us conserve, not exploit these majestic creatures. Please sign this petition.
