Governor Walker lied to the people, the state senate and the state representatives of Wisconsin by dishonestly portraying his union-busting scheme as a budget fix. The provision stripping state workers' right to negotiate for better benefits would not even take effect until their existing contracts expire, meaning that it would have zero impact on the state's budget in the immediate future.

Wisconsin's budget had a multi-million dollar surplus when Walker was sworn in only weeks ago. But he immediately gave millions in incentives to large corporations in order to manufacture the deficit and launch an assault on unions and public education.

For lying and betraying the teachers and public employees of Wisconsin, Walker should resign immediately.
