Urge Wirral Borough Council to Enhance Facilities at Birkenhead Kennels

The Issue

As someone who personally adopted a dog from Birkenhead Kennels in 2013, I can attest first-hand to the incredible work being done by the volunteers at the Kennels and FOBK Charity. They tirelessly strive to provide homes for strays and rehome abandoned dogs - a task that is both undeniably important and tragically unending. Despite their best efforts, the sad fact remains that each time a dog is adopted, another abandoned soul takes its place.

The burden of responsibility is immense, and the dedicated volunteers who manage and run these Kennels are in desperate need of better facilities to support their continuous struggle. The present conditions are insufficient; a lack of space and inadequate facilities prevent them from delivering the level of care these vulnerable creatures rightfully deserve.

The Kennels were originally handed over by the Council to the volunteers, a decision that has proven economically beneficial to the area by saving taxpayer money through the Charity's operation of the Kennels. It seems only fair and reasonable for the Council to invest a fraction of these savings back into securing better, bigger, and safer facilities to aid the essential work being carried out at Birkenhead Kennels.

By enhancing the facilities, the Council would not only be supporting a valuable, community-focussed organisation which works against the odds every day; it would also be making a powerful statement about the value it places on animal welfare in our community.

These are extraordinary people doing incredibly moving and vital work, and they deserve our unwavering support. What better way to express this than by urging the Wirral Borough Council to provide Birkenhead Kennels with the facilities they direly need, for the continued benefit of canine welfare in our community?

Your signatures can provide the necessary pressure and visibility to ensure that this important matter is not ignored. Together, we can push for improvements that will have a lasting and profound impact. Please, sign this petition today.

Karen McNultyPetition StarterLove all animals especially Dogs, Cows & Foxes... but it breaks my heart how many dogs are abandoned and abused. I wish there was a total breeding ban until every stray in a rescue was rehomed and loved.
