Urge western powers to protect Kurdish civilians in Aleppo
The Issue
I am a Kurd living in diaspora. My heart bleeds as I watch my people suffer in the city of Aleppo. The Kurdish communities in two neighbourhoods are under severe attack by the Syrian Army, which has roots in the organisation formerly known as ISIS. These attacks have already resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands of innocent civilians and hundreds of casualties.
The Kurdish people have long faced persecution and marginalisation, and these recent events have only exacerbated their suffering. The world cannot stand idly by while such atrocities continue to unfold. The Western powers, who have the most significant diplomatic and military influence, must step forward to protect these vulnerable communities.
The situation demands immediate international intervention. It is crucial to enforce a ceasefire and establish safe zones to prevent further loss of life and displacement. Western governments and international organisations must apply pressure on the Syrian regime and their allies to halt these senseless attacks.
Furthermore, it is essential to provide humanitarian aid and support to the displaced populations to address the urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical care. Implementing peace-keeping forces in the area can help ensure stability and safety for the already traumatised communities.
We cannot afford to wait; the lives of thousands depend on swift and decisive action. I urge you to sign this petition to demand that Western leaders and influential bodies take a stand against this crisis. Together, we can be a voice for those who have been silenced and a beacon of hope for those whose very existence is under threat. Please lend your voice to this critical cause by signing and sharing this petition. Let us mobilise the international community to act before it's too late.
