Our community is a cherished residential area where families have lived for decades, creating a strong and vibrant neighborhood that we call home. The Vance County Board of Commissioners is considering a proposal to rezone our area for the construction of a data center. However, this threatens our way of life and brings challenges that we cannot ignore.

The introduction of a data center in our midst could radically change our way of life. Industrial developments could lead to increased property taxes and utility bills, placing a financial burden on the residents who have diligently maintained their homes and community values. The scarcity of water, already a concern in many parts of the country, could be exacerbated further, leading to restrictions and a higher cost of living.

Moreover, the environmental impact of such a large-scale development cannot be overlooked. Data centers are known for their significant energy consumption and require substantial cooling, potentially leading to increased pollution and adverse effects on public health. Our community's air and water quality could suffer, affecting not just the environment but our health and well-being. We must prioritize our residents' health and the quality of our environment over industrial expansion.

We urge the Vance County Board of Commissioners to consider the long-term implications this rezoning could have on our community. Let us preserve the integrity and character of our neighborhood for current and future generations.
