Your letters to state and federal representatives and also getting others to sign the petition would be helpful TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RAHWAY RIVER FLOOD MITIGATION PLAN IN 2015 . The needed funding will move a mitigation plan to implementation. We expect an announcement on the USACES-state DEP funding to finalize the study in the next few weeks; the Rahway River Flood Mitigation Plan has been made eligible to be included in the President's FY 2016 budget to be released in February. The state DEP has confirmed it will fund some of project once the USACES flood mitigation plan is finalized. And the Mayors Council Rahway River Watershed Flood Control has signed a municipal sharing agreement for 2015. Over $100 million of damages took place during Irene and extreme weather patterns suggest a next storm could be sooner than later. So hearing your urgency now could help with the funding needed to accelerate the project.
