Senator Cory Booker and Senator Robert Menendez and Congressman Leonard Lance and Congressman Donald Payne Jr. have strongly communicated that the Rahway River Flood Mitigation be a US Army Corps priority. And letters and emails sent by citizens have registered at the US Army Corps headquarters. US Congress has not yet passed the legislation to fund the federal government for 2015 and the schedule is that will be done in early December. We hope there is good news and the full funding gets in place but continued support now is needed at this important time. Please ask your friends, neighbors and family to sign petition. Next week the Mayors of the affected communities will be meeting with the key state legislators and county freeholder board to urge their support of advance state funding of aspects of the evaluation and project. The Commissioner of DEP has already pledged to fund some of the environmental studies and we are urging that commitment continue. Mayors will also be meeting with Essex County and Union County to begin to finalize and refine details of the projects. Get others to sign petition and send emails to our representatives.
