Citizens for Rahway River Flood Mitigation Now
May 6, 2018
While progress is evident since the last update to finalize a flood mitigation plan a solution soon is needed so federal and state funding can implement the plan. US Army Corps transferred the study to its experts at dam integrity at the New England Army Corp Division and the final study of a solution to upstream storage is being assessed.
The Mayors Council Rahway River Watershed Flood Control are urging the state of New Jersey to support the completion of the study so the plan can move to funding and construction. Mayors and engineers from the seven communities will be meeting in Trenton with the state DEP Commissioner McCabe to express appreciation for support to date and to urge this be a 2018 priority.
Thus far Senators Booker and Menendez and Congressman Lance and Payne have represented the communities along Rahway River well and strongly working on behalf of their constituents
Citizens are urged to sign the petition and send letters of support to the US Army Corps to express the importance of the project proceeding.
