The Mayors Council Rahway River Watershed Flood Control visited federal representatives in mid-Febriary urging that the Rahway River Flood Plan stay on track so construction can be funded in 2016. Mayors urging this included: Union Mayor Manual Figueiredo; Former Millburn Mayor Robert Tillotson; Cranford Mayor Andis Kalnins; Millburn Mayor Ted Bourke; Rahway Mayor Sam Steinman; Springfield Mayor Jerry Fernandez; Maplewood Mayor Victor Deluca; and Kenilworth Mayor Anthony DeLuca. Union County Freeholder BJ Kowalski attended the Washington DC visit. Citizens are now urged to send letters to Congress to restate that the study needs to remain on track and that the funding can get into legislation in 2016.
