Aslaamwaalaukum

I pray you are all well.

Thank you once again for supporting me!

Survival for cancer patients in Gaza is currently extremely difficult due to the near-total collapse of the healthcare system. While some patients have been evacuated for treatment abroad, the majority remain trapped with little to no access to life-saving care.

Current State of Cancer Care in Gaza

Facility Collapse: The Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, Gaza’s only specialized cancer facility, was forced to close in November 2023 due to fuel shortages and damage from airstrikes.

Medicine Shortages: The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that nearly half of all essential medicines and over 60% of medical equipment are entirely out of stock. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy services are currently largely unavailable within the Strip.

Increased Mortality: Doctors in Gaza report that cancer-related deaths have tripled since the start of the conflict in October 2023.

Survival Challenges

Barriers to Evacuation: Approximately 11,000 cancer patients are currently stranded in Gaza. While some international efforts have evacuated roughly 600–900 patients, thousands more remain on waiting lists.

Permit Delays: Historically, even before the current escalation, permit denials for treatment in the West Bank or East Jerusalem increased the likelihood of death from cancer by 1.5 times.

Daily Toll: In areas like Khan Younis, health officials report that two to three cancer patients die every day due to lack of treatment and proper nutrition.

Support and Mitigation

International Aid: Organizations like Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) are working to provide essential medications and chemotherapy doses where possible, supporting over 16,000 patients since September 2024.

Evacuation Requests: The WHO and UNRWA continue to advocate for humanitarian corridors and the evacuation of the most critical cases to countries like Turkey and the UAE.

We can aim for a medical evacuation but not without the help and intervention of the British Government!
