Urge U.S. Government to Embargo Brazilian Beef to Protect the Amazon Rainforest

The Issue

As someone deeply concerned about the environment and the future of our planet, the continued deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest for cattle ranching deeply disturbs me. This biodiverse region is not only home to countless species of animals and plants, but also holds potential for medicinal discoveries and is a crucial producer of our world's oxygen. With every square mile that is destroyed for cattle, we're not just losing trees, but an irreplaceable, intricate ecosystem and an untold wealth of natural resources.

Current meat consumption habits, rooted in a global industry worth $945 billion, demand significant land resources. Brazil, as the world's largest exporter of beef, provides around 20% of the total beef exports globally, with the United States being one of its biggest customers. This demand directly contributes to the deforestation of the Amazon as land is cleared for cattle ranching (Source: Reuters).

An embargo on Brazilian beef by the U.S. could persuade the Brazilian government to create and enforce stricter regulations on this destructive land use. Such an action may significantly contribute to the preservation of the Amazon, protecting this crucial part of our planet for future generations.

Please sign this petition to urge the United States government to embargo Brazilian beef and use its influence to safeguard the Amazon Rainforest. If you live in or near Acworth, GA and would like to help even more, you can go to https://chng.it/nYYYvQZD5V to urge Acworth restaurants to boycott Brazilian beef in favor of locally raised caddle.
