Le problème

In Tunisia, the treatment of animals, especially stray dogs and cats, has reached a critical low. Everyday, dogs are being killed in the streets, often as a result of cruel policies lacking in compassion and ethics. Concurrently, cats are subjected to widespread neglect, leading to soaring numbers of abandoned felines suffering on our streets. These unsettling realities spotlight a grave situation demanding immediate attention.

Unfortunately, the continuation of these horrific practices is not only unjust but highlights a significant gap in our society's understanding and consideration for animal welfare. We live in a world where animals deserve to coexist with us in peace, not fear. The government bears a responsibility to address this issue by enacting stricter laws against animal cruelty and taking proactive measures to protect all animals.

A comprehensive approach is necessary. This includes initiating a funding program aimed at educating the community, starting with children at schools, about animal rights and humane treatment. Educational initiatives can play a pivotal role in shaping empathetic attitudes towards animals and reducing instances of mistreatment in the long run.

Furthermore, the government should allocate resources for a nationwide vaccination and sterilisation program for stray animals. By involving volunteers and following successful models from other countries, such as the ear-tagging system used in Turkey to identify harmless, vaccinated strays, Tunisia can significantly reduce street animal populations humanely and effectively. They also need to check the adopters to make sure the animals won’t be mistreated

Volunteers and local activists have tirelessly contributed their time and resources, but they cannot single-handedly shoulder this enormous burden. Legislative support and structured funding are indispensable to progress. Establishing clear laws on animal protection will not only reflect our commitment to ethical treatment but also foster a nation that values all life.

Please join us in urging the Tunisian government to take decisive action to protect the innate rights of our animals. Sign this petition to demand humane treatment and responsible laws that will end cruelty and usher in a new era of compassion in Tunisia's streets.
