As concerned animal welfare advocates, we are deeply disturbed by the increasing trend on TikTok of live streaming dogs whelping their puppies. This practice not only compromises the welfare of these animals but also promotes poor breeding practices. 

The streamers, often ill-equipped and uneducated about proper animal care, are more focused on engaging with viewers and receiving gifts than ensuring the safe delivery of puppies. Most worryingly, these streams are far from educational; they demonstrate inappropriate care, lack of preparation and inadequate equipment.

This is not just a matter of misinformation; it's an issue that actively encourages poor practices among viewers who may replicate what they see online. Reputable breeders do not livestream whelping - this should be a quiet, calm process undertaken by professionals who prioritise the well-being of the animals involved.

Sadly, many people are drawn into this for financial gain without considering the potential harm to animals' health, welfare and the potential for genetic deformities and issues. We need to stop glorifying such harmful trends and instead focus on educating viewers about responsible pet ownership and breeding practices.
