Urge the V&A to Respect Prophet Muhammad's Name

Urge the V&A to Respect Prophet Muhammad's Name
The Issue
As a Muslim, it is my duty to share the knowledge and show respect to Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The honorific "SAW" ("Peace be upon him") is an essential part of how Muslims refer to the Prophet Muhammad. For many, it is not just a tradition but a respectful recognition of the importance that Prophet Muhammad holds in Islamic culture.
The Victoria and Albert Museum, renowned for its vast array of cultural artifacts, has many references to Prophet Muhammad throughout its collection. Unfortunately, these references often omit this vital respect, failing to include "SAW" - "Peace be upon him" after his name, which is a significant oversight not only to Muslims but to cultural accuracy.
By adding "SAW" in all plaques and texts that mention Prophet Muhammad's name, the V&A will exhibit a deep respect for Islamic traditions and values. This small yet powerful change aligns the museum's practices with a more inclusive cultural representation that acknowledges the Prophet’s paramount importance to a significant portion of the world's population.
Cultural institutions globally are moving towards inclusivity and accurate cultural representation. The V&A, as one of the premier museums in the world, has the opportunity to lead by example. By doing so, the museum will foster a more inclusive and respectful environment for its visitors from diverse backgrounds, particularly for those of the Muslim faith.
Let us urge the leadership at the V&A, and all global museums alike, to recognize the importance of this symbolic gesture, aiding the museum in its mission to educate and celebrate diverse cultures with authentic respect. Please sign this petition to make this important change happen.
