Urge the US Virgin Islands to Release All Jeffrey Epstein-Related Records

Urge the US Virgin Islands to Release All Jeffrey Epstein-Related Records

The Issue

Petition Target:

  • Governor Albert Bryan Jr., Governor of the United States Virgin Islands
  • Ariel M. Smith, Attorney General of the United States Virgin Islands
  • Members of the Cabinet and senior officials of the Government of the United States Virgin Islands

Petition Description:

Dear Governor Bryan, Attorney General Smith, and esteemed members of the US Virgin Islands government,

We, the undersigned, write with deep respect for the important work your offices do every day on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands and with a shared commitment to justice, healing, and public trust.

On November 19, 2025, President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law. This historic federal legislation directs the Department of Justice to release its records related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, marking a significant step toward greater openness and accountability. Many Americans have welcomed this development as an opportunity to honor survivors and ensure that the full truth can finally come to light.

The US Virgin Islands played a unique and unavoidable role in the Epstein case. Little St. James and Great St. James islands were central to his activities for many years, and local agencies gathered important information through investigations, property records, law-enforcement actions, and other official processes. Those records remain in the custody of the territorial government and have not yet been made public in the same comprehensive way the federal files soon will be.

We respectfully ask that the Government of the United States Virgin Islands voluntarily follow the federal government’s example by releasing, to the fullest extent permitted by law, all non-confidential records related to Jeffrey Epstein and his activities in the territory. Where privacy concerns exist—especially for victims—appropriate redactions can and should be applied. Our goal is not to cause harm, but to support healing, restore public confidence, and demonstrate that the Virgin Islands stands firmly on the side of transparency and justice.

Governor Bryan, your leadership has long emphasized integrity and community trust. Attorney General Smith, your office is entrusted with upholding both the law and the public interest. We believe that releasing these records would reflect the highest values of the Virgin Islands and send a powerful message that no one—regardless of wealth or influence—is above accountability.

We are grateful for your service and for considering this request with the seriousness it deserves. By choosing openness, the US Virgin Islands can help close a painful chapter and contribute meaningfully to the national effort to ensure such crimes are never repeated.

Thank you for your time, your dedication, and your careful attention to this matter.

With respect and hope,
