Urge the UK to support Biafra's fight for independence

Urge the UK to support Biafra's fight for independence

The Issue

For many years, the Igbo people have faced persecution and injustice. As members of this community, my friends have  witnessed the systemic inequalities and the harsh realities that we endure daily. The ongoing struggles and the repeated violations of basic human rights have pushed us to the brink. The British Government, a key player in international diplomacy and a nation known for championing human rights, has the power to influence change and support the Biafran quest for independence.

Biafra's fight for independence is not just about self-governance but about protecting a population that has been historically marginalized and systematically oppressed. In recent years, evidence of human rights abuses, including unlawful detentions, disappearances, and even killings of Biafrans, has increased, yet the international response has largely been inadequate.

The economic and political dynamics within Nigeria further complicate this issue. The Nigerian government's neglect towards the southeastern region has led to economic stagnation and poverty, disproportionately affecting the Igbo people. By recognizing Biafra, the UK can help address these injustices and provide support in rebuilding a society where people can thrive free from the fear of persecution.

Moreover, history shows that the right to self-determination is a fundamental principle upheld by international law. Recognizing Biafra's autonomy would be a step forward in empowering a region that has been deprived of its rights for too long.

Join me in urging the British Government to take a stand, not just for political convenience, but for justice and humanity. Please sign this petition to support Biafra's fight for independence and help end the ongoing persecution of the Igbo people.
