Urge the UK to boycott Eurovision 2026

The Issue

Apparently making a personal statement makes the case for a petition stronger. Well, I don't have a personal stake in this. I'm not Palestinian, I'm not Jewish. But I am a human being and we cannot carry on as normal, having a happy music event, singing along to the representatives of a country that has murdered tens of thousands of children. We must remember that we are human beings.

Eurovision is a celebrated event that brings nations together through music and art. However, supporting an event that includes Israel, a country accused of committing atrocities against Palestinians, constitutes complicity. Participating in such events normalises and trivialises these human rights abuses. As a society, we cannot overlook the oppression and suffering inflicted on human lives. The UK, with its rich history of championing human rights, must take a stand and demonstrate that it cannot turn a blind eye.

The past decades have witnessed numerous reports and documentation of alleged war crimes and human rights violations against Palestinians. Numerous international organisations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have raised alarms over the ongoing situation, urging for accountability and meaningful action. If the UK truly stands for peace, justice, and human rights, then it must reconsider its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, a platform that celebrates unity and peace yet includes representation from a state accused of undermining these very values.

Boycotting Eurovision 2026 would be a powerful statement showing support for the oppressed and victims of these violations. This act would underscore the UK's commitment to advocate for human rights and influence others to rethink their involvement in platforms that could be perceived as inadvertently endorsing negligence towards human rights.

I implore the UK government to reflect on its values and reconsider its participation in Eurovision 2026. By doing so, the UK can send a strong message to the world, affirming that it prioritises human life and adherence to international human rights norms over participating in cultural events. Stand in solidarity with humanity by pressing for this change.

Sign the petition to urge the UK government to withdraw from Eurovision 2026 if Israel remains a participant, reaffirming our collective commitment to championing human rights and justice globally. Your signature is a step toward ensuring that our cultural engagements do not overshadow our moral responsibilities.
