Urge the UK government to recognise the RSF as a terrorist group.

Urge the UK government to recognise the RSF as a terrorist group.
The Issue
My heart aches for the people of Sudan. They are enduring what has now become one of the worst genocides and humanitarian crises in modern history — the largest displacement crisis in the world. Yet their suffering continues to be ignored. For far too long, Sudanese civilians have lived under the brutal rule of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — a paramilitary group responsible for mass killings, sexual violence, and ethnic cleansing across the country.
The scale of horror is almost unimaginable. Men, women, and children are being slaughtered, burnt alive, and shot without reason. Women and girls have been systematically raped, families torn apart, and entire villages wiped out. In Al-Fashir, the atrocities are beyond comprehension — bodies and rivers of blood have been seen from satellite imagery, evidence of the RSF’s deliberate massacre of innocent civilians. The death toll continues to climb, and with every day that passes, more lives are lost.
This is not a distant conflict; it is a genocide unfolding in real time. And if the UK and international community do not act now, there will be no one left to save.
The RSF, originally a tribal militia, has evolved into a notorious armed faction tied to the Darfur genocide and years of crimes against humanity. Reports from international organisations confirm the RSF’s targeted attacks, looting, and use of starvation as a weapon of war. Despite this overwhelming evidence, the UK government has not designated the RSF as a terrorist organisation.
Even more alarming is the role of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — a close ally of the UK — which has been funding and arming the RSF. Through the supply of weapons, drones, and financial support, the UAE has fuelled this genocidal war, enabling atrocities that have claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced millions.
The UK cannot remain complicit through silence. The British government must take decisive action by:
• Formally recognising the RSF as a terrorist organisation or militia, isolating it on the global stage;
• Cutting all sales of weaponry and military equipment to the UAE, which have indirectly enabled atrocities in Sudan;
• Imposing sanctions on the UAE for its role in funding and arming the RSF;
• And implementing stronger humanitarian protections for Sudanese refugees and displaced people who have already lost everything.
For years, the war in Sudan was called “the forgotten war.” Only now has the world begun to pay attention — but it may already be too late for many. The people of Sudan need us more than ever. Turning a blind eye to one of the most catastrophic disasters in human history is not what a country like the UK, which prides itself on peace and justice, should ever do.
The United Kingdom has always stood for human rights, accountability, and moral leadership. Now is the time to prove it. By taking action, the UK can help stop the killing, hold perpetrators accountable, and give the people of Sudan a chance at survival.
Please sign this petition calling on the UK government to designate the RSF as a terrorist organisation, sanction the UAE, and end the flow of weapons that enable genocide in Sudan.
If we do not act now, there may be no one left to save.
Together, we can make a stand for humanity, peace, and justice.
