Our UK Government was progressive enough to ban Fox Hunting by Dogs and Hare Coursing, acknowledging the inherent cruelty in these practices. However, the same consideration is not being given to farm animals that are slaughtered using the Halal method, where the animals are not rendered unconscious, causing them enduring pain and fear.

The inhumane nature of this process is not an opinion, but a fact confirmed by numerous animal welfare organizations. Studies have demonstrated that animals slaughtered without stunning experience unimaginable distress; their agony can last for several minutes before they lose consciousness (Source: RSPCA and FAWC Reports).

Considering our nation's dedication to the humane treatment of animals, it is perplexing and deeply disturbing that we continue to sanction such a cruel method. We encourage ethical, humane animal farming and slaughtering practices - and removing an animal's conscious experience of pain in the moment of slaughter should be a fundamental part of this.

We urge our UK Government to outlaw the Halal slaughter process that does not use pre-slaughter stunning. We also ask our Government to champion a kind, ethical, and humane farming industry that respects animal welfare to the utmost degree.
