Urge the SJUSD to go Zero Waste
Urge the SJUSD to go Zero Waste
The Issue
U.S. public schools generate approximately 2.6 millions tons of municipal solid waste per year. Much of this waste can be reduced, reused, recycled, or composted rather than sent to landfills, making schools an important place to lead by example in reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Meanwhile, our youth will confront the environmental challenges created by today's decisions that might negatively influence their lifetime in the future. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we be the change we want to see and take action to address these issues
Urge the San Juan Unified School District Board to lead by example in the fight against climate change by formally declaring its commitment to a district-wide zero-waste policy.
To be presented to the SJUSD Board (again) at the December Board Meeting!
