Urge the RSPCA to Abandon Its Assured Scheme and Lead the Transition to Plant-Based Future
The Issue
We call on the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to abolish the Assured scheme, which has fallen short of its promises to protect farmed animals. Investigations conducted by Animal Rising have uncovered shocking scenes of animal cruelty across farms certified under this scheme.
Footage from over 45 farms showed animals suffering in distressing conditions—pigs with untreated infections, salmon with missing body parts, and chickens left to die among their peers. This stands in stark contradiction to the “high welfare” claims made by the scheme.
The RSPCA must not continue to endorse practices that lead to chronic suffering, legal violations, and factory-style farming under the guise of higher welfare standards.
Even with assurances of more humane treatment, 280 breaches of welfare laws were documented, proving that the system is fundamentally flawed. As long as this scheme exists, consumers are misled into believing they are supporting animal welfare, while in reality, they are funding cruelty.
We ask the RSPCA to act in alignment with its mission: to lead by example in protecting animals and adopt a plant-based future.
A transition toward plant-based agriculture not only eliminates suffering but also aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change and create a sustainable food system.
Join us in calling for change.
The RSPCA’s name holds immense public trust. To truly honor that trust, it must abandon welfare-washing practices and take a bold stand against all forms of animal exploitation. The time has come to move beyond outdated systems of animal farming and lead with compassion toward a plant-based future.
Sign this petition to show the RSPCA that the public demands real change—not empty assurances. Together, we can build a kinder, more sustainable world for all beings.
