Wesley Bryan played in a YouTube LIV promotional event for which he received an indefinite suspension.  While Wesley understood the consequences of proceeding to play in the event, the punishment does seems over the top for not even playing in an actual team LIV golf event, especially considering they are allowing a path back to the PGA for actual LIV defectors. 

Wesley Bryan, a respected figure within the golfing community, has consistently demonstrated sportsmanship and professionalism throughout his career. His impressive achievements, including winning the RBC Heritage in 2017, show his dedication and passion for golf. The abrupt suspension disrupts his ongoing efforts to further excel in professional tournaments and curtails his trajectory in the sport he loves.

Furthermore, the suspension has broader implications, affecting not just Wesley but also his team, sponsors, fans worldwide, and a rapidly growing area of golf in the YouTube space.  It's crucial to recognize that penalties should be fair and commensurate with any infractions. Wesley's suspension seems overly harsh and lacks justifiable reasoning that aligns with the values of fair play and sportsmanship.  He did not play in a LIV tournament; he played in a 9-hole scramble event on Grant Horvat’s YouTube golf channel called ‘The Duels: Miami’ in which 6 LIV golfers and 6 YouTube golfers competed for $250k. This was a LIV associated but not an official LIV tournament.  Furthermore, the PGA has let two golfers that were actually a part of LIV golf (signed contracts and large amount of money exchanged) to have a pathway back to the PGA tour (Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed) with some significant penalties. Given that Wesley Bryan did not sign a contract and play for LIV Golf for the past several years, his continued suspension is unjustifiable - his suspension should be lifted, and no further penalties applied so he can earn his way back on the PGA tour should he desire to.  

Golf, celebrated as a gentleman's sport, thrives on principles of fairness and integrity. It is essential for the governing bodies to uphold these principles while making decisions that impact players' lives and careers. Overturning Wesley Bryan's suspension and eliminating additional penalties will not only restore fairness but also reinforce trust in the PGA's commitment to equitable and transparent governance.

We urge the PGA to revisit this decision and take immediate action to lift Wesley Bryan's suspension without additional penalties. His return will not only energize the sports community but also reaffirm the PGA's dedication to maintaining just and reasonable standards.
