Urge the Ontario Provincial Government to Ban Declawing of Cats

Urge the Ontario Provincial Government to Ban Declawing of Cats
The Issue
Declawing of cats has been outlawed in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, New Brunswick and Manitoba. It is currently still legal in Ontario.
Declawing traditionally involves the amputation of the last bone of each toe. If performed on a human being, it would be like cutting off each finger at the last knuckle. There are a variety of humane alternatives available to address behavioural issues of cats.
Urge the Ontario Provincial Government to ban non-medical declawing (i.e. for behavioural /aesthetic reasons). Once we have a significant amount of signatures, we will send this petition, along with a letter, to our local MPPs.
A similar petition aimed at the College of Veterinarians of Ontario was started a year ago (http://chng.it/tshkPVvJLn) however this one is aimed at the provincial government as that is how other provinces have successfully changed legislation.
-Thank you
