Urge the Ontario Ministry to stop the ostrich cull
Urge the Ontario Ministry to stop the ostrich cull
The Issue
I’m tired of the government threatening our freedom. The ostriches today, our pets then our children next. It breaks my heart to see the unnecessary stress and torture on the birds and the owners; it's their property. My property next, if they get away with this tyranny and criminal act.
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture is planning to cull ostriches without considering alternative, less drastic measures. The very thought of these innocent creatures being culled is not only heartbreaking but a direct violation of property rights and personal freedoms.
Measures like these set a dangerous precedent. If the government can decide to cull personal property such as these exotic birds today, what's to stop them from infringement on more widespread personal rights in the future? Our cherished pets? Our fundamental rights as citizens?
We must urge the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture to abandon this inhumane and unnecessary action. Instead, they should consider an independent veterinary review to assess the health and viability of these birds as an alternative to a cull. This would not only protect the rights of bird owners but also ensure that the birds are treated humanely and justly.
Past cases have proven that intervention motivated by panic rather than evidence can lead to irreversible harm to communities and ecosystems. In similar situations, independent reviews have helped to uncover viable solutions that do not involve culling and can actually improve animal welfare and public policy overall. The Ministry should act responsibly and choose intelligence over force.
Join me in demanding a stop to this disastrous policy. We need to advocate for rational, humane actions that are representative of our shared values of freedom and respect for life.
Please sign this petition to call on the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture to cease the cull and support an independent veterinary review of these beautiful ostriches. Together, we can prevent an unnecessary tragedy and uphold our rights and values. Sign now and make your voice heard!
