The Issue

As a lifelong fan of the New York Knicks, their achievements on and off the court have always been a source of pride and inspiration. This time, however, there is an opportunity for the team to take a stand beyond the basketball arena, to align their actions with values that prioritize justice, equality, and integrity over tradition.

Let's consider the current context: immigrant communities are living in fear due to the relentless approach of the Department of Homeland Security. Corruption and criminality are rampant in this White House, threatening the very fabric of democracy and justice we hold dear. Marginalized groups, including Black, Brown, LGBTQ+, and others, continue to be targeted and oppressed under repressive Executive Orders. Survivors of the heinous trafficking crimes associated with Jeffrey Epstein, Trump and their associates are still seeking justice and healing, while this ongoing coverup continues to shake the nation's conscience.

There's no ignoring the sacrifice our troops are making, who have been deployed in an unjust and illegal conflict in Iran. Their service and lives deserve to be valued, and the political decisions leading to their involvement ought to be held accountable.

Finally, we must confront the harsh reality of the administration's failures, marked by scandal, chaos, and a fundamental erosion of trust. This White House, far from being a beacon of leadership, exemplifies what many perceive as incompetency and corruption.

For these reasons, I urge the New York Knicks to use their platform and fame to send a profound message by boycotting a White House visit. Taking such a stand not only amplifies the voices that demand change and accountability but also sets a powerful example of owning and acting upon one's social responsibility as public figures.

By choosing not to visit, the Knicks can align with those who have been harmed and marginalized, show respect to our troops, and protest the administration's failures. Solidarity can be a loud and transformative statement on and off the court.

Join me in urging the Knicks to make this courageous decision. Stand with us as we seek change, accountability, and justice. Please sign this petition to support a boycott of a White House visit, adding your voice to a growing call for a better future for all our communities.
