Hello all! I'm organizing an advocacy event on the grounds of Manitoba Legislative Building, Wed, Oct. 10th, 12pm-1pm!
It's the Flash Mob to Fight Sizeism! Lots of folks have committed to attend the event but I'm hoping to recruit more dancers! No dance experience necessary. Movements will be simple and repeated.
Please contact me to receive info about the dance practices: manitobansagainstweightstigma@gmail.com or how you can learn the dance at home on your own!
Also here is all the info on the Facebook event page!
I hope you can make it!

Bill 216 (as it's now called) is set to be discussed/voted on again by our government sometime in October and I hope that with the flash mob, we can dance or 'move' our government to change with a YES vote to include "physical size and weight" in the Manitoba Human Rights Code, making discrimination based on size and weight ILLEGAL.
As you know, last November, our government voted 'no' to the Bill (35-16) so we are hoping that the vote will change this year!
Join us on October 10th!
Kindly,
Lindsey Mazur

Ps. I know that a flash mob is usually a total surprise but I thought it was more important to get the awareness out about the event than to keep it a complete surprise. Although, the dance will be a surprise to those who haven't seen it! :)
