The deeply disturbing incident involving the sexual assault of a pregnant Glasgow veteran, commonly referred to as JJ, has sparked a personal call to justice. Muhammad Faizan Khan, a Deliveroo driver, is responsible for this inhumane act within the sanctuary of JJ's own home. The severity of this incident and its impact on the victim’s mental health and sense of safety demonstrate an unthinkable violation.

JJ suffered not only the trauma of this assault but also a miscarriage as a direct consequence of Khan's actions. Shockingly, for the sexual assault and the resulting death of her unborn child, Khan received only a 12-month prison sentence. This paltry penalty is a shocking testament to a severe underperformance of our judicial system. It represents a gross complacency in addressing acts of sexual violence with the seriousness they deserve. Swift action is required to prevent such situations from setting a dangerous precedent.
