Urge the Irish Government to Include Free HRT in the 2025 Budget

The Issue

This issue is personally affecting us and countless other women in Ireland. From our own pockets, we cover the costs of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medication, an expense that averages between €30 to €80 each month. The burden of these costs represents a recurrent economic strain for us and for women in peri-menopause, post-menopause, early menopause, premature menopause, and surgical or medically induced menopause.

Our request is simple but transformative. We call on the Irish Government to include, within the 2025 Budget, provisions to make HRT FREE for all women in need, no matter what age or stage of menopause. Like contraception, it is a basic requirement of healthcare for many women, a need that should not bear such economic burden.

Studies link menopause to various physical, psychological and genitourinary symptoms, including but not limited to: hot flushes, depression, and increased risk of osteoporosis. Believing that women's health matters, access to HRT can be a relief for these symptoms and improve the quality of life significantly for Irish women (Source: Mayo Clinic).

By signing this petition, we demand attention to this pressing issue and advocate for the inclusion of free HRT in the national healthcare package.
