The Issue

Traffic on Pine Street in East Aurora, NY has become increasingly dangerous. Over the years, the volume of vehicles has surged, exacerbated by the new road developments that beckon faster speeds. Adding to this peril are the larger vehicles such as semis, open-bucket trucks, and dumpers that regularly traverse this vital artery into and out of our village. Meanwhile, our community is thriving with more events and festivals, drawing greater crowds and adding to the street’s activity. The density of housing is also on the rise, meaning more of us rely on Pine Street for everyday commuting.

Despite numerous appeals from residents, Pine Street remains under Erie County's jurisdiction, preventing us from implementing necessary safety measures. We have repeatedly requested pedestrian crosswalks, stop signs, and signals, yet these pleas have gone unanswered. The current situation urges us as a community to demand change for the safety of all involved.

It is pivotal for the East Aurora Village Board to take action and assume control of Pine Street from Erie County and for village leaders to prioritize the welfare of its citizens.

Sign this petition to compel the East Aurora Village Board to reopen discussions and move forward with assuming control of Pine Street, ensuring its transformation into a safer thoroughfare for our community.
