Urge the Commission to Reject the Construction of 20 Single Family Units 13 Carlson Place
The Issue
I am a lifelong resident of East Haven, CT, living in a home that once belonged to my grandparents. Our neighborhood is a tight-knit community, and we value our peace and privacy. However, this tranquility is under threat due to the proposed construction of 20 single-family units on the small lot at 13 Carlson Place and Thompson Ave.
This project would significantly increase traffic in our already busy streets - an issue exacerbated by our proximity to an airport. The lot itself is small, and cramming so many homes into such a confined space would undoubtedly lead to noise disturbances and infringe upon our privacy. The proposed height and closeness of these buildings would overshadow existing properties, further eroding our sense of seclusion.
Our concerns regarding the proposed project on Carlson and Thompson are traffic from this project and the already impending expansion of the airport would bring additional traffic through our neighborhood, posing a significant risk to the safety of residents. The narrow streets in our area are not equipped to handle the influx of vehicles that would result from the expansion the airport and this project.
Furthermore, the proposed project would also pose a danger to the homes in our neighborhood. With fire and emergency vehicles having limited access due to the small area, it would be very dangerous to the closeness of the neighborhoods homes. We also currently have a rat problem from this property, and the proposed expansion would only exacerbate this issue.
The closeness of the proposed extension to existing homes is a huge security and privacy issue that cannot be ignored. We urge the authorities to consider the safety and well-being of the residents in this neighborhood before proceeding with this project.
We understand that development is necessary for progress but it should not come at the expense of established communities or residents' quality of life. We urge the commission to consider these factors when making their decision.
