For many of us, water is a taken-for-granted resource. But as a concerned citizen who sees the depletion of this vital element, I want to draw attention to the importance of preserving the resources we have and ensuring that they reach those really in need. I urge the City Council to focus more heavily on the water conservation issues in our community and take immediate steps to activate Phase II of the established Water Conservation Act.

Data estimates show that by 2025, two-thirds of the world's population could be under water stress, with millions forced to choose between shortage and hardship (Source: UN Water Report). Given this alarming information, it is our city's responsibility to take proactive measures towards more sustainable usage of water. The move to Phase II of the Water Conservation Act will not only preserve our present resources but will also secure the future of our city and its population. We simply cannot afford to wait until our water resources have been depleted.
