As a devoted sports fan who regularly attends hockey games at the Canadian Tire Centre, I was deeply disheartened to learn that the venue hosts bull riding events such as those organized by the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). Unlike the athletes we typically cheer for, these innocent animals are subjected to harsh treatment and made to perform under cruel circumstances for the sake of profit and entertainment.

PBR subjects animals to abuses such as smacking the animals on the back of the head, the use of discomfort-inducing flank straps and the application of spurs on riders’ boots that harmfully dig into the bulls’ skin. Animals should not suffer for our amusement. 

The Canadian Tire Centre has the opportunity to make a significant change by pledging to never host bull riding events again. By doing so, it would not only alleviate unnecessary animal suffering, but would also set a powerful precedent for other venues across the country.

We, therefore, urge the Canadian Tire Centre to lead this necessary change and to make a public commitment to no longer host any event that subjects animals to such cruelty. Please sign this petition if you believe in cruelty-free entertainment. Your signature can make a difference.
