I have always held a deep sense of pride in our democratic processes, viewing them as a cornerstone of our national sovereignty and representative of our personal freedoms. Recently, however, these tenets seem to be coming under unprecedented attack that requires immediate action.

As Canadian residents, we need to call upon our government to open a comprehensive investigation into the allegations regarding Elon Musk and company X's potential involvement in election interference and other relevant forms of foreign influence. Failure to address these concerns would compromise our democracy and leave it susceptible to external manipulation.

According to the National Democratic Institute, election interference is a global problem. Over 25 international cases of cyber-related election interference were reported in the period from 2016 to 2018 alone. We must acknowledge the gravity of the situation and act accordingly.

Our democratic systems are fundamental to our identity as Canadians, guaranteeing our ability to express our choices and participate in our own governance. But as the renowned British statesman Winston Churchill once said, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others." Protecting the integrity of our systems is thereby critical to maintaining our very way of life.

Let's ensure transparency, security, and democracy in our country.
