The Issue

Every day, residents in our beloved town face a hazard that is both preventable and dangerous: the current high-speed limit on Cassett Pkwy. It is the only roadway left in Cape Charles that is 35-mph. The 25-mph speed limit on all other roadways allows for traffic of all types.  Cassett Pkwy has become a barrier for those of us who rely on golf carts and bicycles for transportation. Lowering the speed limit will not only enhance safety but also open up a convenient and eco-friendly route into the town.

In our town, golf carts and bicycles are more than just leisure vehicles; they are a vital means of transportation. Many residents, especially those who are older or prefer a slower pace, rely on them to move around safely and efficiently. However, the current speed limit on Cassett Pkwy makes it impossible for golf carts and perilous for bicycles to share the road with faster moving cars. By lowering the speed limit, the town can create a safer environment that acknowledges and supports the diverse transportation needs of all its residents.

This is not just a matter of convenience but a moral obligation to ensure the safety and well-being of all town residents. The HOA and town board has the power to enact this change swiftly and decisively, and we need your support to show them how urgent and necessary this action is.

Please sign this petition to urge the town board to lower the speed limit on Cassett Pkwy. Together, we can make our town safer and more accessible for everyone.
