Hey, friends.
Some individuals attempted to take our petition down which resulted in the petition having to undergo a review process. Two different complaints were attempted in order to bring our petition down- ‘defamation’ and ‘copyright infringement’.
‘Defamation’ complaint was dropped by the Change.org moderators. There is absolutely nothing defamatory about our petition and, apparently, it became known to the Change.org staff as well. The UPA banner was flown alongside the Ukrainian procession on Australia Day in Adelaide, South Australia — FACT. The UPA banner is a well-recognised sign of fascism by Western Jewish communities and political scientists — FACT.
During that review process, Ukrainian Cultural Centre SLAVA of Adelaide, South Australia, ended up removing all the photos of the militia person bearing the UPA banner featured in their publicly accessible social media accounts. It seems that despite the ‘defamation’ complaints these folks became eventually aware that the public act of displaying the UPA banner was highly inappropriate and unethical.
Unfortunately, screenshots of these photos initially posted on SLAVA social media pages aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and are going to be most certainly sent to senators, MPs and politicians all over the world.
As for the ‘copyright infringement’ complaint, no photo has been used for commercial purposes and the photo used specifically in this petition falls under the exception of “fair use” law in USA and “fair dealing”- in Australia.
We shall endeavour to highlight our petition until the local government and, preferably, the SLAVA Ukrainian Culture Centre issue a public apology on the subject of allowing the UPA banner to be displayed on Australia Day in Adelaide, South Australia.
