URGE The AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT To Condemn Israel’s Deliberate Starvation Of Palestinians
The Issue
We are witnessing, in real-time, an apparent genocide against the people of Palestine. Daily images of oppression and constant bombardment flood our screens. The basic essentials of the Palestinian people are being overlooked and denied!
Israel has openly declared it will block all goods to Gaza until its demands are met. The intentional starvation of a civilian population is a WAR CRIME that should not be overlooked. The human rights watch stated that the Israeli government is using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare in the Gaza Strip, which is a war crime.
Article 54 of the 1977 Geneva Protocol clearly states: ‘Starvation of civilians as a method of warfare is prohibited (ICRC 1977). And Article 8(2)(b)(xxv) of the 1998 ICC Statute mentions that, “[i]ntentionally using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, including wilfully impeding relief supplies as provided for under the Geneva Conventions” constitutes a war crime in international armed conflict.
How can anyone remain silent while these crimes against humanity are being committed? Israel has cut off ALL food and essential supplies from entering the Gaza Strip (Anna, Al Jazeera, 2025). If that wasn’t enough they also decided to cut off ALL access to water and electricity supplies in Gaza.
Since the breakage of the ceasefire on March 18th, more than 1,523 people have been killed (McCready, Associated PressNews 2025).
We urge the Australian Governmnet to take a stand to demand accountability and condemn these ongoing atrocities!
According to the UN’s Genocide Convention, genocide is defined as an “ act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, radical or religious group”, including killings and measures to prevent births.
What is occurring in Gaza checks all the boxes of a genocide. All Hell Is Breaking Out In Gaza, yet no condemnation!
Australia prides itself for its human rights efforts and are committed to fairness to give a, ‘fair go for all’. But how can these ideals be upheld when our nation remains passive in the face of such blatant atrocities?
This isn't merely a diplomatic or political matter, it's essentially a human rights issue — a matter of justice, dignity, and exceptional urgency.
Together, we can push back against this silence. Together, we can end Australia’s complacency.
Our combined voices can make a difference. Let's stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Let's demand the Australian government to voice out in the international stage against the ABUSE of Palestinian human rights. It's essential we do our part to end this atrocity, and it begins with signing this petition for a free Palestine.
