Growing up, I admired the legendary Sheriff Buford Pusser, whose larger-than-life persona was immortalized in the "Walking Tall" film series. Like countless others, I was captivated by the narrative of a heroic lawman standing against corruption. But over time, I've come to learn that the reality may differ significantly from the legend.

Pauline Mullins Pusser, Buford Pusser's wife, met a tragic and untimely death. The circumstances surrounding her murder remain shrouded in mystery and suspicion. Contrary to the heroic image portrayed in the movies, troubling allegations have surfaced suggesting that Sheriff Pusser may have been complicit in her murder. These allegations are underscored by potential political ties and protections that may have gone as high as Pardon Me Ray Blanton and his political machine, adding layers of complexity and concern.

Recent investigations conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) have provided a complete file on this unresolved murder. However, the findings remain sealed, hidden from public scrutiny, perhaps due to political maneuvering and fears of electoral repercussions.

Attorney General Mark E. Davidson, the 25th District Attorney General of Tennessee, currently has the authority to release this pivotal report. Transparency is crucial in rebuilding trust within the community and honoring the memory of Pauline Mullins Pusser. The people have a right to know the true story—no matter where it leads. 

It seems evident, although much of the evidence, is hearsay or circumstantial, that Buford Pusser most likely and alledgedly commited many other crimes. His marriage to Pauline was not the perfect one portrayed in the films. It was full of infidelity, abuse, adultery, alcoholism, drug abuse, child abuse, and domestic violence, as Buford was the main perpetrator and instigator in all of this.
