As a resident of New York's capital region, I have been deeply disturbed by the actions of Two Buttons Deep. This media company has not only promoted a transphobic comment but also used it for entertainment value. Their apology was insincere and did little to rectify the harm done. Moreover, one of their co-founders was present at the January 6 insurrection, further revealing their lack of respect for democratic values.

Two Buttons Deep's actions are not just offensive; they are harmful. According to a study by GLAAD, 75% of Americans who learned about transgender people through media reported feeling more comfortable with them (GLAAD Media Reference Guide - Transgender). However, when media outlets like Two Buttons Deep promote transphobia under the guise of entertainment, they contribute to an environment that is hostile towards transgender individuals.

Stewart's Shops has been an integral part of our community in Albany for years. We believe that it should uphold its reputation by choosing not to associate with companies that promote hate speech and disrespect our community members.

We call on Stewart's Shops to take a stand against transphobia and insensitivity by refusing any future collaborations with Two Buttons Deep. By doing so, they will send a clear message that bigotry is unacceptable in our community or anywhere else.
