Urge Solidworks to allow Mesh2Surface add-in
The Issue
Solidworks, a leading 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software, has been instrumental in the success of many businesses and individuals. One of its key strengths lies in its ability to support plugin development, which allows users to customize and optimize their workflows. However, we have been asked by Solidworks to discontinue Mesh2Surface for SOLIDWORKS as a product.
The SOLIDWORKS Partner Program was created to promote the third-party development of products and services designed to maximize the productivity of SOLIDWORKS customers, as well as to promote tools that significantly complement the SOLIDWORKS portfolio and our product is found as 'not conforming SOLIDWORKS strategy of addressing the needs of the SOLIDWORKS community'.
This decision would significantly impact thousands of users who rely on these plugins for their daily operations. According to a survey by the CAD Insider (2019), approximately 70% of CAD users utilize plugins regularly. This shows how integral they are for productivity and efficiency.
We believe it is crucial for Solidworks to consider the needs of its user base before making such significant decisions.
We urge Solidworks to allow us to have our plugin and have it available for everyone who is working in the field of reverse engineering from 3D Scan data. By doing so, they can ensure that their software remains user-friendly while still pushing boundaries in CAD technology.
We see this limitation as unfair constrain as there are other alternative, expensive and not so effective solutions who are allowed, but we are not.
Please sign this petition if you believe in the importance of maintaining plugin support within Solidworks' ecosystem.
